Data Processing
At the first and most crucial stage of the project, we focused on collecting and processing information. This process was divided into several key stages:
- Conducting a comprehensive audit of the existing website, including an analysis of its structure and data.
- Identifying the main objectives and tasks for each section of the website and the corresponding municipal departments.
- Developing and implementing a new, optimized structure for the website.
Logo
Although the initial task did not include redesigning the logo, during the development of the new, modern website, we concluded that the old logo needed an update. To improve its visual perception and make it more relevant, we proposed and implemented the following changes:
- Removal of all outline lines to achieve a cleaner and more elegant appearance.
- Adaptation of the color palette to more modern and visually pleasing shades.
Website
The primary objective of the official website of the Cahul City Hall is to accomplish a multitude of tasks: from informing residents about news and changes in the city to providing accountability documentation and publishing decisions. The website's structure, considering such a variety of functions, is designed to facilitate easy access to information for users.
To make browsing the latest information even more intuitive and convenient, all news and updates on the site are displayed in the form of a chronological feed on the homepage.
Website Page Structuring
To ensure order and systematization on the website, pages were divided into several key data types:
Category Page
Displays all sub-sections of a given category. This template is universal for all categories of the site.
Document List
Pages of this type present documents, each document title being a link for viewing in the browser. Next to each document, there's a "Download" button, as well as an icon indicating the file format (e.g., PDF or DOCX) for user convenience.
List of Articles with Documents
Here are articles containing lists of documents, resolutions, announcements, and other information related to the activities of the city hall, indicating the title of the material and the date of publication.
Blog, News, and Events
Articles in this category are presented in a blog format, where each publication is accompanied by a photograph, title, and date of publication.
Data Tables
For information that requires presentation in table form, a special template was developed, ensuring ease and clarity when reading large volumes of data.
Homepage Feed
Let's focus on the homepage feed. To maintain a uniform style of display for all publications from different sections of the site, we applied additional design solutions. Publications from the "Media" section are adorned with photo covers, while materials related to documentation do not have covers. To achieve visual unity of all publications, we abandoned the idea of using a universal placeholder and instead applied the following approach.
Each data type is assigned its own unique image. This allows visitors to quickly visually identify which category each publication belongs to, simplifying navigation through the extensive array of information.
- Document List
- Single Document
- Mayor's Directive
- Blog Post
- Video Information Program of the City Hall
Other Pages
In addition to the mentioned data categories, the website includes several pages that do not fit into the described templates. For these unique pages, individual layouts were designed to ensure the optimal presentation of their content.
Responsiveness
Ensuring the website's adaptability for mobile devices is a key element of modern web design. We meticulously optimized each page for convenient viewing on smartphones and other devices.
